A Letter from our Founders

Dear MYCOmmunity,

It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we write to welcome you to our Medicinal Mushroom Co. community.

The birth of The Medicinal Mushroom Co. has been a culmination of many years (and multiple adventures) of learning, growth and exploration. Wellness, plant/fungal medicine and transformation have been at the forefront of our endeavours for over a decade.

During this time nothing has inspired, and healed, us more than our connection to the Natural World - the vastness and genius of our biosphere ignites a sense of awe in us that is unrivalled. Four billion years of evolution have developed ecosystems full of wisdom and wonder and in our minds, nothing quite compares to the magic of the mycelial world.

There is estimated to be up to 3.8m species of fungi living on our planet today and yet we are only familiar with about 120,000 of them. They vary wildly in size, shape, function and location. The largest living organism on earth is a honey fungus (Armillaria ostoyae), living in Oregon, which spans an incredible 2.4 miles! Fungi also dominate the world of microorganisms where fungal endophytes live in the intracellular spaces of plant tissue, acting as secondary metabolites, creating vital nutrients for their plant hosts.

Medicinal mushrooms have been used by original cultures for millennia to treat illness, enhance vitality and performance. Mushrooms like Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) have been clinically proven to enhance neurogenesis and cognition. Science is now confirming what Buddhist monks and medicine men have known for millennia.

We have been busy developing multiple mushroom formulae using organic fungi sourced from North America to make sure the purity and potency of our products are uncompromised. Where appropriate we have synergistically combined powerful herbs with selected mushrooms to enhance your experience. We will be launching our mushroom infusions utilizing innovative spagyric extraction techniques in May with triple-action single extracts and chocolate infusions in the months to come. There is nothing we love more than working with our team of passionate mycologists, scientists and formulators to create truly unique and efficacious products.

The ability for medicinal mushrooms to work magic in our bodies is astounding and we seem to have only just scratched the surface of their potential. However, for us, their healing wisdom runs far deeper than the biochemical exchange we experience in our bodies. The very nature of how fungi exist can guide us and humanity into a healthier, more fulfilled and balanced future. Fungi understand and embody the power of symbiosis. They seem to know that their survival and well-being are inextricably linked to the well-being of the ecosystem that they inhabit. They are community builders - masters of collaboration, expertly building and maintaining balance within their kingdom. One specific type of fungus, the Mycorrhizal fungus forms an essential symbiotic relationship with plant roots, helping tree and shrub roots find water and nutrients and in return, the roots give the fungi carbon, carbohydrates, and other nutrients. We need to find ways to mimic this level of awareness. We must continue to build new collaborative structures, which support mutual preservation and prosperity.

MMCo’s mission is to place the healing power of these mushrooms into your hands. To give you knowledge and access to these fungal medicines while connecting to a community of myco enthusiasts who share in the awe and desire to learn from the fungal kingdom. Together, under the tutelage of our mushroom maestros, we can manifest a world built on the values of connection, collaboration and care for those around us.

We are excited to be walking this journey of discovery with you as we unearth the magic of the Fifth Kingdom. We encourage you to build a rapport with each mushroom. If you listen closely enough each one will come alive and reveal its magic to you.

This is just the beginning. There is so much for us to explore together. All we ask is that you stay connected, and receptive, and let us reveal the majesty of the mushroom world to you.
